How to Earn Money Through Google Adsense

Three Methods:Creating an Ad UnitHow to Design Your Ad CampaignWhat’s it Worth?

Money for nothing? Well, not quite—but close! Google’s AdSense is a revenue-sharing opportunity for small, medium and large web sites that places ads for goods and services that are relevant to the content of your site, targeted to the people who frequent your pages. In turn, you get paid a small amount when the ad is either displayed on your page, or clicked on. We’ll show you some good ideas that added to your own, will help increase your AdSense revenue.

Method 1 of 3: Creating an Ad Unit

  1. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 1 Version 3.jpg
    1
Sign into your AdSense account. Go to AdSense, and click on My ads in the upper left.

    • Create a new Ad unit. In the main screen area, under Content > Ad units, click the +New ad unit button.
    Ad
  2. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 2 Version 3.jpg
    2
Name your ad unit. This can be any name that suits you, but many find creating a standard naming format helps them manage large amounts of data.

    • For example, using [target site for the ad]_[ad size]_[ad date] is one approach, that would look like this: mywebsite.com_336x280_080112. Whatever format you decide to use for naming, make that your standard.
  3. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 3 Version 3.jpg
    3
Pick a size. See “How to Do It” below for details, but Google has found best practices that generate more clicks.
  4. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 4 Version 3.jpg
    4
Set your ad type. This determines the types of ads you will see on your website: text only; text and image/rich media; and image/rich media only.
  5. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 5 Version 2.jpg
    5
Create a custom channel. A custom channel lets you group ad units however you choose, such as by size or location on a page.

    • You can track performance by custom channel, and turn your channel into a targetable ad placement so advertisers can target their ads to your ad units.
  6. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 6 Version 2.jpg
    6
Create your ad style. This lets you choose colors for the various components of an ad: border, title, background, text, and URL. It also lets you choose corner styles, from square to very rounded, a font family, and a default font size.

    • It’s good practice to create an ad style that harmonizes with the look and colors of your website.
    • You can use Google’s presets, or use your own custom settings. In either case, a sample ad on the right will show you how your ad will appear
  7. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 7 Version 2.jpg
    7
Get the code for the ad. When you’re done with the ad setup, either save your ad unit, or click the Save and get code button at the bottom to get the HTML code for your site.

    • If adding code to your site is a puzzle you want help with, click here for Google’s code implementation guide.

Method 2 of 3: How to Design Your Ad Campaign

  1. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 8 Version 2.jpg
    1
Analyze your content. In designing any kind of ad campaign, it’s crucial to know who your target is. If you’re writing a food blog that caters to single men on a budget, for example, you’ve narrowed the scope of who you will be appealing to. You’ve also got a very good focus point for your ads. What are things single men who cook drawn to? Here are some possibilities: dating, cars, movies, politics, and live music.

    • Think about who frequents your website, write down what you feel are the most important characteristics of your viewers.
  2. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 9 Version 2.jpg
    2
Fine tune advertisements. While AdSense will auto-populate your page with what they feel are relevant ads, use their tools to provide tighter controls.

    • Set up channels. Channels are like labels that let you group your ad units your way—by color, category, or pages. By setting up channels, you can get detailed reports on the performance of your ad units, and use that to your advantage. For example:
      • Use one style of ad on one group of pages, and another style on another group. Track and compare the performance of the two styles, and pick the best performer.
      • Compare performance on pages that focus on different things. For example, if your pages about gardening perform better than your pages on cooking, you might consider adding more to your gardening pages.
      • If you have separate domains, set up a channel to track each of them to see which is generating the most clicks.
  3. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 10 Version 2.jpg
    3
Optimize your ad placement and site design. Google has found there are places where ads are more effective, and places where they are less effective.

    • Ads that appear when you first arrive at your page (i.e., “above the fold” as they say in the newspaper world) tend to be more effective than those that are below the fold.
    • Ads on upper left tend to perform much better than ads on the lower right.
    • Ads directly above the primary content, and ads that appear at the bottom of the page and above the footer tend to perform very well.
    • Wider ads are generally more successful, as they are much easier to read.
    • Ads that display images or video perform very well.
    • Using colors that complement your website colors will make them more readable, and so more effective.
  4. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 11 Version 2.jpg
    4
Learn how AdSense works. AdSense automatically sends ads to your site based on a few different criteria:

    • Contextual targeting. AdSense crawlers scan your page, analyze your content, and serve up ads designed match your content. They do this using keyword analysis, word frequency, font size, and the link structure of the web.
    • Placement targeting. This allows advertisers to choose to run their ads on specific subsections of a publisher’s website. If your website matches an advertisers criteria, their ad will appear on your page.
    • Interest-based advertising. This lets advertisers reach users based on their interests and the user’s previous interactions with them, such as a visit to their website. Google’s Ads Preferences Manager allows users themselves to choose their interest categories, which further helps advertisers focus their ad campaigns. This method is good for monetizing your site more efficiently, as it increases the value for advertisers and provides a more relevant experience for users.

Method 3 of 3: What’s it Worth?

  1. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 12 Version 2.jpg
    1
Manage your expectations. When you sign up for AdSense, you’ll want to know what kind of revenue can you expect to see. There is a lot that goes into what kind of return you can expect, and managing those things will help you maximize your earning potential.
  2. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 13 Version 2.jpg
    2
Traffic. First and foremost , in order to generate any kind of revenue from AdSense you must have people clicking on your ads. In order for this to happen, you need to have people on your site, reading your content! Whether you have a business website, or a personal blog, the rule is the same: Get the word out!

    • Heavily trafficked large sites can see over a million hits a day, whereas a blog might feel lucky if they have 100 visitors a day.
    • For every thousand page impressions (views) you receive, you may earn from $.05 to $5. Yes, that’s a broad range—over a month, that is between $1.50 and $150.00! Where in that range you can expect to frequent depends entirely on you, your site, and your promotion efforts.
  3. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 14 Version 2.jpg
    3
Cost Per Click (CPC). This paid every time somebody clicks an ad on your page. No, you can’t click your own ad—Google will see this, and shut you down so fast your head will spin. The advertisers set the price for these ads, and they can vary greatly.

    • An advertiser may spend a lot on a per-click basis, but that ad may generate very little interest on your site.
    • An ad that may generate $.03 per click may get 100 hits, but that doesn’t add up to much.
  4. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 15 Version 2.jpg
    4
Click-through Rate (CTR). This is the percentage of visitors to your site compared to how many them actually clicked on an ad. If 100 people came to your site, and 1 of them clicked an ad, your CTR is 1%, and that’s not an unreasonable number. You can see how getting more traffic to your site will really make a difference.
  5. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 16 Version 2.jpg
    5
Revenue per 1000 impressions (RPM). This is an estimate of how much you might receive if you have 1000 impressions (page views).

    • If you made, for example, $1 for 100 impressions, your RPM would be $10. There is no guarantee you’ll make that, but it’s a good way to check the overall performance of your site.
  6. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 17 Version 2.jpg
    6
Content is king. The quality of your content is an important factor in understanding your earning potential. If your site provides rich, compelling content and a great user experience, you will have more interested users. Google’s crawlers will also have an easier time determining the type of ad content would best fit on your site. Interested users + targeted ads = $$$
  7. Earn Money Through Google Adsense Step 18 Version 2.jpg
    7
Start building keyword-rich pages. Liberally seed with well researched, profitable keywords, and get lots of high quality links to your site.

    • If your site is about topics such as debt consolidation, web hosting or asbestos-related cancer, you’ll earn much more per click than if it’s about free puppies.
    • If you concentrate only on top-paying keywords, you’ll face stiff competition. What you want are keywords that are high in demand and low in supply, so do some careful keyword research before you build your pages.

Create a new Google Ad Unit for Google Ad Sense.

Tips

  • Although Google doesn’t release exact details as to how they determine the ads to serve on a given page, they do say that it’s the text content of the page that matters, not the meta tags.
  • Quality is the most important part of any web site. If your site does not contain the content of expected quality the visitor might not come back,
  • Avoid non-English characters on English pages. There is a bug which can cause these pages to show irrelevant French ads.
  • Some webmasters are designing brand new sites specifically for serving AdSense text ads, however it’s against the AdSense rules to design a site purely for AdSense, so you’ll want to include a few Affiliate links or sell your own product, too.
  • A great resource for earning money is using traffic driving sites like Flixya You can sign up for Google Adsense and Flixya, without the costs or time needed to build traffic or your own site.

Warnings

  • In early internet days, you may see a site notice asking everyone to click the ads. The day has gone long time ago. If Google detects possible cheating, there is no such thing as presumption of innocence. They assume that you are guilty.
  • Do not click your ads. If Google catches you, they will suspend your account and retain any earnings you might have. However, if you, by mistakes, click your ads for one or two times, Google will keep that earning but rather not to punish you as long as it doesn’t happen constantly.
  • Google has a lot of restrictions on how the ads have to be displayed. One of the major reasons for account suspension is that webmasters tried to blur the ads and mislead others to think that it’s “content”. For simplicity, never attempt to use CSS to hide Google’s logo unless you’re authorized to do it!
  • If you don’t have any content, Google will have to guess what your page is about. It may guess wrong, and so the ads that it displays may not be relevant.

Method 1 of 3: Making Your Friends Happy

  1. 135695 1.jpg
    1
Be emotionally supportive. Everyone wants to know that they are loved and appreciated. Encourage your friends to follow their dreams, especially if no one else will. Find a way to tell them how much they mean to you, even if you have to do it casually or inconspicuously. Be caring and compassionate in all your dealings. Just being there for your friends, whether they’re having a major life struggle or just ranting about their work situation, can be the best thing you can do to make them happier.

    • Another way to be emotionally supportive is to let your friends know when they’re being self-destructive. If they’re in a bad relationship, making poor life choices, or squandering their talents, find a gentle way to discuss it with them. Whether or not they listen is up to them, but at least you took the time to be honest.

  2. 135695 2.jpg
    2
Cheer them up when they’re down. Smile at them and, if you have a warm relationship with the person, hug them. Do something fun like building a blanket fort, hosting a sleepover, or making silly putty — especially if you’re “too old” for such things. Put together a little collection of adorable pictures, videos, and gifts and dare the person not to feel better after taking a look.

    • Of course, being silly won’t make a person happier in every situation, but it’s worth a shot. Your friend will appreciate that you’re really willing to put in hard work to make him smile.
    • If your friend is really sad, then sometimes the best way to cheer him up is just to be there for him, as a shoulder to cry on. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to come up with a ridiculous activity to make your friend feel better, if the mood isn’t right.
    • Sometimes, even after lots of talking and hugs and cuddles, the person still will be in a bad mood. With certain types people it actually helps to get sad about them being sad. If they’re the empathetic kind, it’ll drive them crazy to see you sad and they’ll try to fix it. And usually when they do, their mood will improve as well, and sometimes more than what you yourself are capable of.
  3. 135695 3.jpg
    3
Be a good listener. One easy way to make somebody feel appreciated and validated is to simply hear them out. Try to understand their thoughts and be in their shoes. Ask thoughtful questions, don’t interrupt, and if you don’t understand something, say something instead of playing along. You may have a friend who feels like he doesn’t get enough attention and who really needs a kind ear, and you can make that person happier by being there and making an effort to really listen.

    • To truly listen to your friend, turn your body toward him, make eye contact, and don’t give unsolicited advice. Make your friend see that you’re fully focused and are there to help make your friend’s life better, not to pass judgment.
    • Put your phone away when your friend is talking to show that you are giving your friend the attention he deserves

      3. 135695 4.jpg
        4
Give a meaningful gift. Take the time out to pick out a special gift that is suitable for the person. The more thought you put into the gift, the better it is from the point of being an expression of positive energy and consideration. Get your friend something that he or she would really like or need instead of getting something random; it could be a rare album that your friend would love, or a first edition of your friend’s favorite novel. Making an effort to find something truly unique for your friend will make your friend feel instantly happy.

        • Though giving your friend a meaningful gift on her birthday or during the holidays can make a positive impression, sometimes nothing can make a person happier than a random gift given without a special occasion.
      4. 135695 5.jpg
        5
Call up a friend just to say hi. One way to make a friend happy is to call him or her just to say hi. This small gesture can make a big difference and can show your friend that you really care about him or her and want to know what’s going on in his or her life. Call when you have a few minutes and ask about how your friend’s day is going and what he’s been up to at work, in school, or with his friends. Take some time to take an interest in your friend without wanting anything in return, and you’ll be lighting up your friend’s day.[1]

        • People don’t call each other just to chat nearly as often as they used to. Make your friend happy by calling without wanting a single thing.
        • If you know your friend just had a big week, such as starting a new job, then calling just to see how it’s going can make your friend even happier.
      5. 135695 6.jpg
        6
Help out a friend just because. Another way to make a friend happy is to offer some help. This doesn’t mean you have do anything super intense, or to only help out during dark times, either. If your friend is having a busy day, pick up lunch for him or her or offer to walk his dog that morning. You can give your friend a ride to work if you know his car is in the shop, or help him put together that IKEA table that’s been leaning against his wall for weeks. Even making an effort to help out with the small things can bring a smile to your friend’s face.

        • Some of your friends may be resistant to asking for help even when they need it. Work on making them see that you genuinely do want to help them, and they’ll be more eager to accept.
        • Be observant. Watch your friend and see what he or she needs the most. Maybe your friend would love a cup of iced coffee but is too shy to ask for it.
      6. 135695 7.jpg
        7
Write them thank you cards. Your friend will instantly be happier if you send him a thank you card that shows how much you appreciate something he’s done for you. You may think that thank you cards are only for teachers or older people, but sending one to a friend can be a meaningful and unique way to say thank you and to make your friend feel happier. You don’t have to thank the friend for a specific thing, but you can be more general and thank him for being an amazing friend or a great listener.

        • Leave the note on your friend’s doorstep, in your friend’s mailbox, or even sneak it inside a book your friend is reading. The element of surprise can make your friend even happier.
      7. 135695 8.jpg
        8
Say something nice about a friend behind his back. Another way to make your friend happy is to praise him to other friends when he’s not around. Instead of gossiping and being mean, spread the positivity and say something nice about one of your friends, whether you’re praising his fashion sense or his amazing guitar skills, so that your friend will feel happy when it gets back to him. Rest assured that, just like negative gossip, your friend will hear about it if you say something kind about him behind his back.[2]

        • Plus, if you say something nice about a friend behind his or her back, this will inspire your friend to say something about you when you’re not around; this will continue to spread positive energy around.
      8. 135695 9.jpg
        9
Bake something. Baking something is a way to make your friends happy that will never grow stale. Taking the time to bake chocolate chip cookies, banana bread, apple pie, or another favorite treat of your friend’s will definitely make your friend happy and will make him or her appreciate the effort you’re putting in to lighting up your friend’s day. You can even leave the baked treats on your friend’s desk or on her front porch for an extra surprise treat.

        • If you don’t know what dessert is that person’s favorite, see if you can cleverly ask around so your baked goods are an extra treat.
        • Baking your friend something for his or her birthday can make your friend even more happy.

Method 2 of 3: Making Your Parents Happy

      1. 135695 10.jpg
        1
Be trustworthy. Keeping a big promise every now and again isn’t nearly as meaningful as keeping your end of the bargain on day-to-day stuff. Make honesty a policy. Even white lies can feel like little betrayals. Make sure your actions always reflect your words – and vice versa. If you want to make your parents happy, then one of the best things you can do is to be worthy of their trust.

        • Your parents may spend a lot of time worrying that you’re not being open with them. The best thing you can do is show them that you want to talk to them about the things that are going on in your life.
        • If your parents feel like you have an honest relationship and that you don’t hide anything from them, then that will make them very happy.
      2. 135695 11.jpg
        2
Spend quality time with them. Show that you not only care, but also enjoy their company. It doesn’t take much: start by turning off the TV, sitting down, and talking. You can also invite them to get out for a while by going bowling, swimming, or doing something else fun and active. Family time doesn’t have to be boring, and it can be just as fun as you want it to be, whether you go check out a new Italian restaurant or play charades. Your parents will want to spend time with you more than anything else, and being around them more will make them very happy.

        • Instead of closing the door to your room, leave it open, showing your parents that you want to spend time with them instead of shutting them out of your life.
        • Pick a weekly night for family time, whether it’s every Sunday or every other Wednesday. Plugging family time into your routine will definitely make your parents happy.
        • The key thing with spending time with your parents is that you should act like you want to be there, not like you’re just doing it to make them happy and wishing you could be with your friends instead.
      3. 135695 12.jpg
        3
Make them feel appreciated. Compliment them sincerely by telling them something you love about them. Make your parents feel like you don’t take them for granted and that you really are grateful for all of the things they do for you. Never let a day go by without saying thank you, and without showing that you couldn’t have done something without them. Your parents will be happier because they’ll see how much you appreciate them.

        • Let’s face it: it’s all too common for parents to get taken for granted, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay. Step outside the expected mold and make an effort to show them that you care.
        • Remember that your parents aren’t just parents; they’re people with their own goals and needs. They aren’t “required” to take care of you; they made a choice to care, and you should be appreciative of that.
      4. 135695 13.jpg
        4
Be happy yourself. One way to make your parents happy is to make an effort to be a happy person yourself, whether it means finding love, a meaningful career, or pursuing a hobby that makes you happy. Studies show that parents are just as invested in the happiness of their adult children as their children when they are younger, so you should always work to be happy and to demonstrate your happiness if you want to make your parents happy themselves.[3]

        • It’s all too easy to call your parents to complain about your job or other annoying aspects of your life. However, you should call them to talk about the things you like, too. It’s important to be honest, but keeping up a good front won’t hurt, either.
      5. 135695 14.jpg
        5
Help out around the house. Another way to make your parents happy is to help out as much as you can around the house. This doesn’t mean you should just get your chores done early, but that you should go above and beyond to do what isn’t expected of you, such as doing extra laundry, wiping down the kitchen counters, or even vacuuming the house when your parents are out. Your parents will really appreciate the extra effort you’re making and they’ll be happier as a result.

        • This will make your parents especially happy when they’ve had a long day and really need someone to take some chores off their hands.
        • You don’t have to point out what you did; they’ll notice that the work got done, and they’ll feel instantly happier.
      6. 135695 15.jpg
        6
Cook them a nice meal. Another thing you can do to make your parents happy is to surprise them with a nice, home-cooked meal. You don’t have to make something too elaborate, and just a simple pasta dish with a salad and chicken or fish will do just fine. The important thing isn’t that you’ve cooked a gourmet meal, but that you’ve taken the time to help out your parents, and have made it so they don’t have to worry about cooking that day.

        • Surprise them on a night when your parents are used to doing the cooking. Nothing will make them happier than coming home to a nice, home-cooked meal.
        • You’ll earn bonus points for helping clean up, too.
      7. 135695 16.jpg
        7
Be affectionate. Giving your parents a bit more affection can make them happy. Just a hug when you see them, a kiss on the cheek, a pat on the arm or shoulder, or any small affectionate gesture can really help light up their lives. You may be at the age where you think it’s not cool to be affectionate with your parents, but you have to get over that and give them the love and affection they need if you want them to be happy.

        • Just giving your parents a hug or a kiss before you go to school will make a difference in their days.
        • When your parents come home from work, don’t just stay in your room and greet them from the other side of the house. Make an effort to come down, give them a big hug, and ask about their day.
      8. 135695 17.jpg
        8
Be kind to your sibling. If you want your parents to be happy, then one of the best things you can do is to develop a positive relationship with your sibling or siblings. Taking the time to be nice to your brother or sister can make your parents feel happy that their children are getting along, and it can also just make everything in your household run more smoothly. If you’re the older sibling, taking over some of the responsibilities of taking care of your younger sibling can also make your parents happier because they’ll have less to worry about.

        • If your younger sibling needs help with homework, offer to help out if your parents are having a busy day.
        • If you’re the younger sibling, then making an effort to be nice to your older sibling and to avoid starting fights can make a big difference.

Check in with them just because. Your parents are probably used to you calling them when you need something or have a question only they can answer. If you want to make them happy, then you should call them just to say hi and to see how they’re doing. They’ll feel appreciated and cared for, and will be happy because you’ve taken the time to talk to them just because you wanted to, not because you needed something.

        • If you’re having a busy day, even a text message saying hi and asking how they’re doing can make a huge difference.
        • If you’re busy at work, sending them a quick email saying hi or sending a link to news article they might like can light up their day.

Method 3 of 3: Making Strangers or Acquaintances Happy

      1. 135695 19.jpg
        1
Practice random acts of kindness. Call, text, or email the person just to say that you’re thinking about them. Send a hand-written letter, silly cartoon, or cute photo to them in the mail; so few people use snail mail nowadays that getting it is a real treat. Pick the person a flower, help them carry their groceries, or offer to do something big like help them move.

        • Being kind just for the sake of kindness will bring you good karma and will make the rest of your day better, too.
        • Look around you. If you see someone who looks particularly in need of a smile or kindness, direct your attention to that person — as long as you make sure you’re not imposing.
      2. 135695 20.jpg
        2
Make them laugh. Laughter relieves tension and is wonderfully contagious. Just making an effort at making witty banter as you’re buying your groceries or waiting in line for a movie ticket can bring a smile to a person’s face. If you aren’t feeling inspired, find something funny online and email it to them. The most important thing is that you show that you don’t take yourself too seriously and that you’re willing to go out of your way to make people laugh.

        • People don’t get nearly enough laughter in their lives. You can make the rest of a person’s day more enjoyable just by making him laugh once or twice.
        • You can also do something silly like pick a dandelion or blade of grass and give it to them, saying, “I got this especially for you!” or “I picked this weed just for you!”
      3. 135695 21.jpg
        3
Make eye contact and say hello. This is a small and simple way to make a difference in a person’s life. Just the act of making eye contact with a person can make him or her feel valued, and saying hello can brighten up any person’s day. You never know what’s going on in someone’s mind, and saying hello and making them feel special just for a moment may be the boost of happiness they need to get through the day.

        • You might be the only person to smile at this other person all day. Think about what a difference that makes.
      4. 135695 22.jpg
        4
Donate your things. Another way to make a person happy is to donate the clothes, dishware, or other items you no longer need in order to help the people who could really use them. You won’t know how big of a difference your old clothes or plates can make in the life of a person who really needs them, and donating your things is a guarantee that you’ll be making someone somewhere out there smile, even if you can’t see it.

        • If you’re hanging on to clothes that you haven’t worn once in more than a year, it’s time to donate them to people who could put them to good use.
        • Though it’s easy to be sentimental about old things you no longer use, think about how much more value and happiness someone else can get out of them.
      5. 135695 23.jpg
        5
Give a nice compliment. You can make a person smile and feel happier just by giving a simple compliment. As long as your compliment is sincere and kind, you’ll be making someone’s life a little bit better. All you have to do is tell a person that you like her necklace, that she has a great smile, or that you love the funky pants he’s wearing. As long as you don’t step out of line or make people uncomfortable, giving nice compliments can help make people happier instantly.

        • Don’t compliment the figure of a person you don’t know. Stick to commenting on clothes, jewelry, or something else that won’t be taken the wrong way.
        • Just look the person in the eye and say something like, “Cool sweater.” Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to say the perfect thing.
      6. 135695 24.jpg
        6
Spread your positive energy. Another way to make someone happy is simply to be happy yourself and to spread your positive energy and joy to the people around you. Have a smile on your face, talk about the things you love, make positive comments about your surroundings, and make other people feel good about themselves. Happiness is contagious, and if you work on spreading good cheer to the people around you, they’ll pick it up pretty fast.

        • Even if you’re not feeling super positive, just making the effort to smile can actually make you feel happier and can bring joy to those around you.[4]
        • If you catch yourself making a negative comment, try to counteract it with two positive comments.
      7. 135695 25.jpg
        7
Help a person carry something heavy. You can make a person happy just by helping him or her carry something heavy. Whether you’re helping an older lady carry groceries to her car or helping a guy at the post office get a heavy package to his car, you’ll be making a difference in a person’s life by lightening the load just a little. If you have a neighbor who is doing some heavy lifting, ask if you can help out, too, and you’ll be making another person happier.

        • You’ll instantly make someone happier by doing this because you’ll be making his or her life easier.
        • Of course, don’t get into any dangerous situations where you’re helping a person you don’t know carry something into a van or a house. As long as you’re helping out in a safe, public place, you’ll be making a difference.
      8. 135695 26.jpg
        8
Post something uplifting on Facebook. These days, most people use Facebook for ranting or complaining about something annoying that happened to them that day, or even for sharing a depressing article about how the entire world is going down the drain. While this may feel true, sometimes, you can work to make people happier by posting a positive news story (yes, they do exist!), a cute video of cats, a funny comic or story from the Onion, or really anything at all that will make people smile. You’ll be making people happier without even realizing it.[5]

        • Of course, there are many awful things going on in the world, but you can leave it to your other 1,000 Facebook friends to remind us about that. Why not post something positive and give your online friends a breath of fresh air?

      Tips

      • Make a surprise for them without any occasion.
      • Let them know that you’re comfortable with them around – say “Vera! I love you!”, “I missed you!”, “I love being around you!”, “It’s so nice to be here with you”, etc. The other person would appreciate knowing that they’re appreciated! Say anything sweet you truly mean, but have always kept on the inside. It’ll make them smile physically and mentally, knowing that it came from the bottom of your heart.
      • Be happy yourself. You’re saying, I know how to be happy – follow me! It can fade their sadness, getting in touch with their desire to enjoy themselves instead of shedding tears.
      • You will need to make them happy by making them laugh and showing kindness.Show them that you’re really sorry. They would be happy to be with someone that makes them comfortable! Or play something that they love. Make them feel better.
      • If they don’t want to talk about it then don’t annoy them by trying to find out about what is bothering them. Bring something else up like “What are you doing this weekend?” etc.
      • Go to the movies to watch a family film with them. Try to be friendly and buy them snacks.
      • A simple hug, a smile or a compliment is enough to make someones day. If you don’t want to drastically try and make them happy, just do one of those simple things.
      • Sacrifice some of your time for a sad or depressed person.
      • Make sure they know that you’ll be there for them no matter what.
      • Laugh at people’s jokes. It’s very embarrassing when you’re in a group, make a joke, and no one else finds it funny. So try to at least smile.

      Warnings

      • Make sure none of your loving support comes across as pitying or sarcastic.
      • If your friend wants to be alone, give them space but let them know that you’re willing to hear whatever they have to say if they change their mind.
      • If your friend is upset about someone, don’t chime in with bad things about that person. It’d just encourage negative feelings towards that someone he/she is thinking of.
      • Going too overboard or being too forward about things can make the other person feel awkward.
      • Don’t ever make a fool of them .
      • Don’t shout at them .
      • Don’t pressure the other person about the problem that they’re having; doing so will result in more negative emotions.
      • Don’t become a crutch. If someone becomes dependent on you to make them feel good, your unhealthy (and possibly destructive) dynamic will make them worse off than they were before you came along.

enjoy go out there and make em happy :))

One time, when I was in my early twenties, I shared a hospital room with a mother of many. I had a skin infection that wouldn’t respond to oral medication, and the 50-something-year-old woman had severe, inexplicable hives. Our main topic of conversation revolved around neither of our ailments. It was about my not wanting to have children. She was insistent, which seemed ironic considering her hives flared up whenever her family visited her on Sundays. I eventually compromised with the woman. Okay, I said, I will put off my decision until I reach my thirties. “You are starry-eyed,” she huffed. “You young women want it all. But you can’t have it all!” Maybe, I thought, some of us don’t want it all.

Keeping a University Accountable: Our College Pick

🙂

Longreads

A late-night encounter with a drunken classmate is at the beginning of many college sexual assault stories. But in the one Gracie Ryan tells, the woman—a third-degree taekwondo black belt—feels uncomfortable, gets up, and leaves. “Even if a girl is scared to death,” she tells Ryan, “if she walks into a room tall and confident, it’s like, don’t fuck with me.” Ryan’s article checks in on the progress of various sexual assault prevention programs offered at the University of Montana following federal investigations into mishandling of reports of sexual violence in 2012. Students formed self-defense classes. The university requires students living in dorms to undergo bystander-intervention training. Ryan checks in on each program and pairs text and photos to chronicle a university and its students trying lots of different ways, with varying success, to solve a problem that plagues too many campuses.

how to make easy money :))

Things you may need to know before making your decision :))

Sell your things to local stores. There are many stores, local and chain, who buy products from the public at a reduced rate and then resell them in their stores. Sort through your home to find things you no longer need, want, or use and make a visit to these stores in your area.

  • If you consider yourself quite the avid reader with a library to match, consider sorting through your archives to find old books you no longer want. Books in good condition can be bought for several dollars apiece at used-bookstores.
  • Clothing is something everybody has, and often something we have too much of. If your wardrobe is overflowing with clothes, take a pass through and find the things that you can’t fit or aren’t in style anymore. You will get the best price for clothing that doesn’t have holes, stains, or wear-and-tear.
  • If your library is full of music rather than books, consider selling some of your CDs. CDs with their cases intact and without scratches or blemish can be sold for a few dollars each. Find a local music or record store in your area and see if they buy used CDs.
  • If gaming is your thing, try sorting through all your old video games. Many video game stores will take your used games if they are brought without any scratches or blemishes in the original case. Although you may only get a fraction of the price you originally bought the games for, making a few dollars on something you no longer use is better than nothing.
  • Try taking miscellaneous things to a local pawnshop. This allows you to resell anything from a blender you never used to your old motorcycle jacket.

Sell your things directly. If you would rather be responsible for selling what you own instead of taking it to a store, consider having a garage sale or advertising your items online. Although these involve much more planning than simply making a drop-off at your favorite secondhand store, you can make much more money by doing the work yourself.

  • Throw your own yard or garage sale. At most, you can expect a brand-new item to sell for 50% of it’s original price, but you will be making money back on something you’re not currently using. Be sure to plan ahead by placing ads in your local newspaper and putting up signs for your sale on nearby busy streets with directions.
  • Place big-ticket items on sites like Craigslist or eBay to advertise to a wider audience. If you have something worth a lot more money than just some used clothes and garage tools, then open an ad for it online. Craigslist is a great option for selling something right away to locals without the hassle of shipping it across country.

Sell something you make. Are you an excellent baker? An artist? A gardener? A carpenter? Then take your handmade goods to market! This doesn’t necessarily mean that your only option is to sell at a local farmers market. For a true artisan, there are many ways to sell your wares.

  • Try opening a shop with an online marketplace such as Etsy or eBay. These allow you to advertise your products, give brief descriptions, and promote your items around their sites. Etsy is becoming a massively successful place for unique handcrafted goods sold at high prices.
  • Bring things you make to a local holiday bazaar, fair, or market. The people who attend these places go specifically to see the amazing products people make themselves, so the audience is already tailored for you. Some of these places may require you to pay a fee to rent a booth, but you may be able to get a selling space for free.
  • Advertise your products to local offices and boutiques. Visit places where you might find a product similar to what you make, and ask to sell your goods there. Many local business owners are happy to support a fellow busin
Sell space on your website. Are you the proud owner of a blog or website? Then consider selling ad space in the open columns of your pages. You can sign up with different affiliate links which provide ad space for major third party vendors. Then, you get paid a percentage of the amount of sales that are made through your page. The best way to make a lot of money in this fashion is to keep traffic on your website or blog high by keeping posts frequent and interesting.

essman by showcasing or selling their products.

Rent some of your space. If you have a spare bedroom, basement, or parking spot on a busy street, consider renting it out. You are in charge of the renting process, so if at any point in time it doesn’t seem to be working out for you, then you are free to cancel the agreement.

  • If you decide to rent part of your house, make sure you write up a lease and have all your paperwork and licensing in order. This will help you to avoid accidents with renters or the government.
  • Try advertising an extra parking space to your neighbors who may need room for multiple cars. Look at monthly rates in the area for parking to gauge how much you should be charging in order to be fair.

Sell stock photos. Stock photos are simple, somewhat nondescript images that people can use for a fee in the articles, brochures, presentations, etc. They don’t earn much apiece, but if you upload a nice little collection, the sales can really add up – especially since photos can be sold over and over. Best of all, it doesn’t get much easier than clicking off a few decent shots, uploading them, and waiting.

Try “sitting” for your neighbors. Although it’s easy to associate babysitting as a job for thirteen year old girls, it is actually a fast and easy way to make money. Sitting doesn’t stop at children though, and can expand to include houses, pets, and gardens as well. Advertise your sitting services at nearby bulletin boards and around your neighborhood to increase the likelihood of getting hired.

  • Pet sitting or dog walking is a great way to earn money if you’re an animal-lover. When your friends, family, or neighbors head out on vacation, offer to take care of their pets for a low fee. This will help them out, and give you an easy opportunity to earn cash doing something you love.
  • House sitting is possibly the best of the “sitting” types of jobs. You get paid to stay in someone’s home and make sure there are no break-ins or accidents during a family’s time away on vacation or business. Although you may only have to make daily check-ins, this is an exceedingly easy way to earn a lot of money.

Become a mystery shopper. A mystery shopper is a person who is paid to secretly visit stores and restaurants and report back about the visit in an online survey afterwards. You get paid about $10 on average per store, for a brief 10-15 minute run-in.

  • The Mystery Shoppers Providers Association regulates the third parties that are hired, so visiting their site can give you access to some safe mystery shopper programs.
  • If you are required to purchase something – food or clothing typically – you will be reimbursed for that item after completing the online survey

Try online surveys. Reputed online survey sites pay $5-$10 per survey. You could supplement your income by just taking one or two surveys per day.

Work for ChaCha. ChaCha is a phone service which anyone can text or call to ask any question they could possibly have. As a worker, it is your job to choose an area which you feel you know a lot about, and research and send back answers as quickly as you can.

  • Before being hired as a worker, you have to take a test to make sure you are compatible with their system and are able to perform the required tasks.
  • ChaCha workers are paid between $3-$9 an hour, with no minimum hours of work required. You simply sign into their site whenever you want to work, and do as much work as you would like.

Be part of a study. Universities, researchers, and pharmaceutical companies are in constant need of participants for studies. Depending on the study, you could be paid up to several hundred dollars! Most studies are looking for people who are in good health, although some have poor-health criteria they need participants to fill.

  • Visit the websites of local universities or the department of health to find out what studies are being conducted near you.
  • Participate in the NASA sleep study. This requires you to stay in one of their beds for three months straight with minimal physical activity. The payment for this study in particular is a whopping $10,000! Although the payment is due after months of forced bed rest.
  • Participating in medical studies always puts you at risk for certain side-effects, although these are always very unlikely.

Advertise for companies. Businesses and corporations want their products and services to reach as many people as possible. To do this, they employ the services of everyday citizens to spread their word for them. You may be asked to advertise for them online or in-person.

  • Have your car wrapped in advertisements. Depending on the product or service, you may be required to have the wrap placed on your car for several months or years. This, however, adds up to hundreds of dollars over time. Removing the wrap when you’re finished does no damage to you car.
  • Sell your status updates for your Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook accounts. You will be given your choice of certain advertisements that will show up as a status update posted by you on your favorite online social media. You get paid more for the number of ads you post and followers you have. Visit ad.ly.com for some introductory advertisements.

hope it helps…:))
